Polish SEO ranking startup Positionly backed by Berlin-based Point Nine Capital has just announced launching Appcase, a cloud-based data service for mobile apps. The online tool allows mobile publishers gather information about app performance - such as revenue and downloads and track its search position based on selected keywords within app stores. Appcase service is available for iTunes, Google Play and Windows Phone stores.

For a mobile app publisher getting the app in the top 10 or even top 50 apps within a particular category, say “entertainment” or “trivia” is essential for the business case of the app, that is revenue and profitability. According to the CEO of Positionly and Appcase Greg Kazulak, 63 percent of all iOS app downloads happen as a result of the search, so it is important to monitor app position in app store search results in designing app marketing strategy.

Appcase goes against well-known existing mobile data startups such as Distimo and AppAnnie, but Kazulak believes that Appcase prices are more attractive. Similar to the pricing approach of Positionly, Appcase offers users track one or more apps at different monthly prices starting with $19 per month for one app and up to 10 keywords.

Unlike Distimo and AppAnnie, Appcase does not allow tracking information of the competitor revenue and downloads yet, but provided the tool becomes popular, statistics accumulated the users’ iTunes Connect accounts would play an important role in expanding the data services Appcase will be able to provide to its users. Also, in the future Kazulak believes that Appcase users may benefit from a combined web-based and app store ranking statistics obtained through Positionly and Appcase services that are currently offered through separate accounts.
