This week the Ukrainian venture fund AVentures Capital has announced two investments, which shows that even in Ukraine for the investors it is business as usual.
$3,25 Million have been put into StarWind, a virtual storage management company founded in 2003 by the Ukrainian entrepreneurs Artem Berman and Anton Kolomyeytsev. AVentures Capital invested in this Series B round together with the Russian funds Almaz Capital and ABRT. ARBT has previously backed StarWind with $2 million in 2009. StarWind offers software-defined storage (also known as virtual storage) solutions for various virtual environments.
Over the past year StarWind claims to have become a leader for Microsoft Hyper-V environment, growing its sales 100 percent in 2013. Currently the company reports to have won 30,000 clients in more than 100 countries. As for the competition, we have recently reported about a Series A funding round for StorPool, a Bulgarian startup that develops software-defined storage solutions.
The second deal is a follow-on investment in the augmented reality startup Augmented Pixels. The founder and CEO of one of the largest outsourcing company in Ukraine Ciklum Torben Majgaard has also backed the Ukrainian team.
