The concept of Lithuanian TRAFI is simple. Get directions to go from one address to another combining public transit, taxis and walking. In Hamburg, there is HVV that does just that very well. Google is on the map too, although its directions are not perfect, and walking directions aren’t that precise.
TRAFI does exactly what HVV and Google is doing but only for Lithuania, and soon for many other countries, as the startup has just announced receiving $500,000 in seed funding from Practica Capital. Sylvain Grande, the former head of Nokia Maps is also joining the board.
The company is going to spend the money expanding on the markets not well covered by Google, and they have a point. As its competitive advantage the founder and CEO Martynas Gudonavičius names hard-to-get data about the traffic that is not available through the open sources which TRAFI is going to integrate in its system.
TRAFI is available online and as an Android app.
