Update 20 September 2016: The organizers announced $30k+ cash prizes, 14 investment funds confirmed and dedicated mentors on each vertical.
Back to school season starts, and in the startup world as well. In September, it’s Pirate Summit in Cologne, Bits & Pretzels in Munich; in November, two big IoT conferences in Moscow and Barcelona, and in November we have How To Web in Bucharest, SLUSH, in Helsinki, and AllWeb in Skopje.
We’ve got an email from the cool team organizing How to Web conference announcing the Startup Spotlight competition, which will be held in Bucharest on November 1-2, 201. They invite early-stage startups with a working prototype to apply by September 25th, so don’t postpone your homework to the last moment 🙂
The organizers accept applications from all over Europe, and 50 teams will be selected to come to Bucharest. The participation is free, and cash prizes do not require equity in return. But the value of the Startup Spotlight in not in potential cash prize, but in its focus on deal-making and connecting founders to seasoned mentors and investors in 1-t0-1 meetings.
Last year’s winners, Branch Track, Symme 3D, Jaboo, and Safe Drive have developed companies with outstanding results. “Winning How to Web Startup Spotlight helped us close our seed round”, said Jean Mauris, Co-founder & Head of Product BranchTrack.
How To Web has a very strong mentorship network in such fields as Fintech, Gaming and Entertainment, Cyber Security. For example, in the area of cyber security, your team can have access to the expertise from Bitdefender, Cyberghost, BullGuard, IXIA.
The organizing crew is very responsive, so feel free to contact them with questions.
Early in 2016, we published an overview of the Romanian startup scene, which was inspired by How To Web.
