TechCrunch comes to the Balkans from today through Wednesday and then Friday for TechCrunch Meetup Balkans, hosted by Netocratic. As we noted in our post about the RockPaperStartups conference, which will be held July 17-19 in Rijeka, Croatia, it has been a fairly busy summer so far in southeastern Europe. The SHIFT Conference in Split in May kicked off the season, followed by the Startup Island conference in Hvar in June, and the upcoming RockPaperStartups event in a few weeks. Now, we have news about events this week which will be of interests to readers in not only Croatia, but also Bulgaria, Serbia, and Slovenia.
The series kicks off today with an event in Sofia, but there is still time for those who miss it to register for the event tomorrow in Belgrade, the event on Wednesday in Zagreb, and Friday’s event in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Why attend? Well, it would be an opportunity to meet TechCrunch writer John Biggs and it will be an opportunity to pitch for a shot at a ticket to DisruptEurope, the big TechCrunch event which will held October 26th in Berlin. To be able to pitch at the event and potentially become one of the 5 teams which will be selected at the mini-pitch sessions which will be held in each city, you need need to register here. As a final note, Eleven, the Bulgarian accelerator venture fund is one of the co-hosts of the Sofia event.
