There were a few venture deals that took place in Russia over the past few days. Here they are.
Oktogo raised $5 million from VTB upon its acquisition of Travel.ru, reports Russian Kommersant. The travel booking startup founded by Marina Kolesnikova and backed by Mangrove Capital Partners, French VC Ventech, VTB Capital, ABRT and others, has now rebranded as Travel.ru.
Almaz Capital backed cross-platform game developer Nival with $5 million in Series A funding. Hardly a startup Nival was founded in 1996 by Sergey Orlovsky. The company began publishing its games in 2005. It already employs 200 people across its offices in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and US.
AddVenture has been active over the past month, having invested $1,5 million to the Medbooking.com (US-based service ZocDoc has raised $95 to date), as reported by Firrma.ru. The fund also backed online jewellery retailer Nebo v Almazach with $2 million in funding and put in an undisclosed amount in ChefMarket, the Russian service that delivers recipe ingredients for home cooking.
