We have all been to startup conferences where the Twitter feed was used as a real-time news reporting tool. The feed can be embedded onto a particular website, but the visuals aren’t as strong, as the images come through as links.
Enter BuzzTale, lead by well-known to us Andris Berzins (TechHub Riga, Creandum). BuzzTale allows creating the embedded content for a website where images, text and videos are presented together in a visually pleasing way. What is more, unlike Twitter feed, where curation of what is displayed is not possible, and is increasingly subject to spam, the curators of BuzzTale can decide who gets to post, and what should be deleted.
Users can publish their text, photos and videos using their mobile devices (iOS or Android), in real time. Content marketing has grown into a multi-billion dollar business over the past few years, and BuzzTale seeks to leverage this trend.
If the content, especially decent images and videos are being posted, it makes sense to reuse them in the future content creation process, provided that the users agree to transfer the rights for the brand to use the image.
Finally, live blogging, using the existing WordPress technology is not so easy on mobile, and BuzzTale solution may just be the ticket for bloggers to publish new content on their blog through BuzzTale widget (yet I doubt if they would want to pay for it).
As for user engagement, the tests BuzzTale has carried out in Riga during a Tall Ship Race event drove 20,000 unique visitors to the website, resulted in 300,000 page views, and whopping 7-minute time spent on the website (which is good for SEO).
Another alternative to visual-story telling is Brickflow, which we covered here. This Hungarian startup offers to create stories based on the content already captured by users on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube to make embeddable presentations for a website. Brickflow is in a process of fundraising on Angellist with a target of $2,7 million.
Here is the buzz at the Pioneers conference, where BuzzTale launched last week.
