Estonian international payment startup Transferwise has just announced their recent achievements. Being faithful user of their service I am happy to share the news. Having attracted PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel as an investor into the business, Transferwise has doubled the volume of transfers competed from GBP 125 to 250 million, now transferring over GBP 1 million daily.
The company has also introduced new currencies, including Turkish Lira, Indian Rupee, South Aftrican Rand as well as Singapore and Australian Dollar.
Its users can now pay money to each other using a mobile app, as well as send and receive money to email and paylinks.
Based in London, Transferwise was founded in 2010 by Taavet Hinrikus, formerly the first Skype employee and thereafter a director, and by consultant Kristo Käärmann. This year the company raised over $z million from Peter Thiel, Max Levchin, IA Ventures, Index Ventures, TAG, Seedcamps, David Yu and Xavier Niel.
