The Global Technology Foundation (GTF), a joint project of Russian VC funds Runa Capital and Almaz Capital, Ukrainian VC fund TA Venture, and Kiev-based technopark Bionic Hill, has announced the second batch of winners of grants for the top startups in Ukraine. As GTF revealed on their Facebook page, the winners of grants in this second group of grant-winners includes rating-leader GoSave (helps mobile developers cross-promote their apps to their users) and runners-up Attendify (white label event management and attendee networking app) and NextMusic.Tv (plays music based on the selected mood, energy, genre and language and other parameters).
The first group of grant-winners, announced a couple of weeks ago, included Pics.io, Gutenbergz, and uGift, a startup we previously profiled when they obtained an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Kiev-based incubator Happy Farm and angel investor Semyon Dukach. Grants awarded to the winners are valued at roughly 21,750 Euro.
Having selected the first 6 grant-winners, the Foundation will announce the winners for the second round of applications, which ends September 28th, at IDCEE in Kiev (October 10-11). In all, 10 grants are to be awarded this year. According to the Foundation, they received 180 applications to be a part of the first group (announced a couple of weeks ago). In order to obtain the money, startups are required to sign an agreement with the Foundation to establish the development of the project and the order of spending. In 6 months, grantees will be expected to report on their activities and report on spending. As we noted when we first wrote about the GTF, the plan is for the organization to award these grants to 10-12 startups on an annual basis.
