The service that allows users to browse through the home décor articles and clip the photos into collections, launched in July 2012 and has attracted 20,000 users and more than 500,000 monthly website visitors.
The company says that more than 1,000 professional designers and architects and 600 companies have thus far signed up for the service. With this new funding, the company intends to attract more customers, ramp up marketing efforts, and perfect their ‘engine’. Following the beta version of their e-commerce service, the company intends to release apps for iOS and Android and to then expand social features on the site to provide information about subscriptions, topics, and collections.
The co-founders say that they also intend to launch a new ‘niche’ of the service, but they are keeping the full details private for now. InMyRoom reports that they are in negotiations for a second round of investment, due to be closed next year.
The concept behind InMyRoom is that users can use the service to find liked photos in articles or by browsing home sections. The system then selects products and offers the user a way for purchasing the item through the site.
The company was created by Ivan and Adelya Khmelevskoy. Ivan is no stranger to entrepreneurship, having previously co-founded Garpun, an ad-management service which obtained $3,5 million (2,59 million Euro) from iTech Capital earlier this year. To this point, the founders of InMyRoom have bootstrapped. Although we are not offered the identity of the investor, the investor is quoted as saying that they decided to back the company because they were attracted to the transparent business model of InMyRoom and because they believe that furniture and decor items represent one of the fastest-growing sectors of the e-commerce market in Russia.
