Solpeo, a Polish startup which has developed an isometric HTML5 gaming engine, tells that they have created a contest for game developers. In order to showcase the potential of their newly-unveiled gaming engine, Solpeo is offering a Nexus 7 tablet to the developer capable of creating winning mini-game entry. The contest is free to enter and the deadline for application is 11:59pm Central European Time on September 30th, so developers may as well create a minigame and enter to win. Solpeo provides the gaming engine, but developers must create their own game under the MIT license and submit the game to a public code-hosting site like Github or Bitbucket.
Solpeo is a company which was founded in 2009 and is based in Krakow. The company is backed by 400K Euro from private business angels and Maze Emerging Markets, a London-based advisory and brokerage firm. Those interested can actually go ahead and try out the new engine here. The gaming engine was not completely finished when they unveiled it at E3, however, and they are continuing to develop the back-end aspect, which will allow for large-scale multiplayer gaming, and the Solpeo Editor, which will allow develops to create games within the Solpeo framework. Within the gaming market, they count Games Closure, Construct 2, Isogenic, Leiyoo, and others as their primary rivals.
