Cloutex, a service created by Dane Soren Hejnfelt and Estonian Peeter Mark, launches to provide a hub for businesses to synchronise their data such as contact data for CRM, accounting and invoicing. The service has been under development for the past 2 years, but launched in beta in January and has since attracted hundreds of users. Now, they have officially launched and I spoke with the co-founders about their service, funding, plans for the future, and more.
As Hejnfelt and Mark explained to me during our call, their business was born out of frustrations from SMB over difficulties in synchronizing systems and being able to completely manage their information. Thus, the founders set out to develop a hub which will allow businesses to connect a seemingly limitless number of systems (of all types) and be able to avoid having to manually change data in each one connected. Of course, there are competitors already on the market. Zapier and IFTTT are a couple of notable competitors, but Hejnfelt explained to me that their system only copies data from points A to B and only new data. MuleSoft might be considered more of a direct rival, but their service runs businesses $4,000 (€3,017). Thus, the team behind Cloutex aims to provide a cloud service which is both affordable and offering synchronization not currently available.
It took them 2 years to develop their product, and Hejnfelt and Mark have raised 2 pre-seed rounds from Wiser to this point and are planning to close a seed round within the next month, but they are taking things slowly because they are really interested in feedback from customers and are simply seeking slow and steady growth for the time being. One important aspect of expanding their business comes with a piece-by-piece move to Silicon Valley, which they plan in order to be closer to their customers. Hejnfelt and Mark say that most service providers in the world are located in California, so they are planning a move to the Golden State in the near future. Finally, although the co-founders built the beta version of their service without investment or investors, they are now monetizing it by charging $19 (€14) per connection required by a customer.
