Russian Eruditor Group, a service which was founded in 2006 by Egor Rudi and acts a marketplace for freelancers, raises $12 million (9,09 million Euro) Runa Capital, Intel Capital, and Frontier Ventures. This latest investment follows the $4 million (3,03 million Euro) that it raised from Intel Capital and Runa Capital last year and the $600,000 (454,000 Euro) in seed-funding that they obtained from Igor Ryabenkiy in before that, in 2011.
Runa decided to go with this second investment because, according to senior partner Ilya Zubarev, because the demand for freelance services is quite high and Eruditor does a nice job of matching freelancers with customers. He says that Eruditor has seen rapid growth of its customer-base and Runa believes that they could become a global leader in this market. More than 400,000 customers and 100,000 private specialists have done business through the service.
As the name suggests, Eruditor Group is the parent company for a number of sites. Infodoctor.ru (medical), Krace.ru (beauty-related specialties), Vash-repetitor (tutors), Dukh Sporta (sports trainers), Vash Avtoinstruktor (driving-instructors), Treda (musicians, artists, dancers, and photographers), MasterDel (home repair and construction), and Tutorion (distance learning) are the sites which Eruditor currently operates.
