Ukrainian Readdle celebrated two milestones within the past few weeks, the 6th anniversary of the formation of their company and 13 million downloads. The company was founded in 2007 in Odessa, Ukraine by a team of 4 university students and since expanded to 45 employees and now claims more than 4 million active users worldwide.
2007 was a significant year in the history of mobile technology with the release of the original iPhone and the team behind Readdle was able to move quickly to develop a product which would take the world by storm. Aiming to develop apps which would offer iOS users office-productivity options from their mobile devices, the team moved to develop apps for managing documents, calendars, PDF-management, printing, scanning, their own browser, and even a collection of the works of Shakespeare.
Most of the apps work on both iPhone and iPad, but they do offer additional note-taking and PDF-conversion apps for tablet. A couple of their apps are free, like the basic Calendars and Documents apps, but others will cost between $5-10 (3,75-7,50 Euro) in the AppStore. In addition the company offers their PDF Expert Enterprise service on a subscription model at price points of $5 (3,75 Euro), $10 (7,50 Euro), and a negotiated price. This service is geared towards businesses and provides security and sync options for PDF.
