Latvian Infogr.am, a service which allows users to create interactive infographics, is simultaneously celebrating the launch of their Excel app and of the 1 millionth infogram created, co-founder Uldis Leiterts tells us. When we last heard from the HackFwd-backed startup (amount of seedfunding is undisclosed), they were announcing the launch of the “pro” version of their service (13,5 Euro per month), which allowed them to save infographics offline and to share them with other users. Now, users of the service will have access to an Excel app which will allow them to create infographics and then to seamlessly incorporate them into their Office documents. Leiterts says that this app, which is free to download and still in beta, represents their first attempt at a desktop-productivity app and says that they offer 30 different chart types and designs to the service’s users.
Infogr.am was launched in February 2012 by Leiterts and Raimond Kazhe and unveiled at the TechChill Baltics 2012 event. They’ve made some noise around Europe over the past 18 months as a graduate of the Spring 2012 class at Startup Sauna, winner of “Best New Startup In 2012” at Artic15 last year, and as the winner at the 2012 hy! Berlin conference. Leiterts told The Next Web that they have reached 500,000 users, with 3-4 million unique monthly visitors. In terms of growth, Leiterts says that there are 100,000 new infographics created monthly through the service and that they are seeing a 25% month-over-month increase in unique visitors. In terms of competition, Visual.ly is perhaps the best known, checking in with more than 42,000 infographics and data visualizations.
