Prostor Capital, a Moscow-based investment fund, announces that it intends to establish Prostor II, a $60 million (46,6 million Euro) fund, as originally reported by Unova. Prostor was founded in 2011 by a group of private Russian investors, among them Sergei Merkulov and Leonid Reiman (ex-Minister of Communications and Information Technologies for Russia) and is currently capitalized at $20 million (15,5 million Euro). The new plan is for the team behind Prostor I to move to Prostor II at the beginning of 2014. In order to do so, they expect to attract 8-10 new international investors.
At the moment, Prostor invests in 9 companies. The companies currently in their portfolio are Car-Fin (about whom we have previously written), SofTrust, VitaPortal, MightyCall, UMI, Eagle.Platform, Dnevnik, and CPAExchange. According to the original report, Prostor intends to increase the number of companies in which it invests to 15 with the raising of this new fund. The fund is primarily interested in companies that develop SaaS for SMB, new technologies in online advertising, services or software for education and/or medicine, mobile apps and social networks, and services which have both an IT and an essential offline component. It is reported that the overall value of their portfolio has grown at a Y/Y rate of 35%.
