Bulgarian seed and acceleration fund LAUNCHub announces investment of an undisclosed amount in education startup Jumpido. Jumpido, a series of educational games which makes use of Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensor system, launched earlier this year and counts dozens of Bulgarian schools as customers.. The series of 6 (for now) games is designed to combine physical exercise with fun and stimulating math problems. LAUNCHub tells us that the teacher selects the program for the students and that the software monitors their performance and adapts the contents of the games as necessary.
Although the service has only launched in the past few months, Nimero has already managed to attract more than 35 Bulgarian schools as customers and say that they are planning to move into the Turkish market. The company behind Jumpido, Nimero, also developed the educational project Envision, which is used in over 220 schools in Bulgaria, Spain, Cyprus, and the United States. The price-tag of 299 euro suggests that schools are likely the targeted clientele here.
The funds for LAUNCHub are provided by the JEREMIE European fund and they tell us that they’ve already invested in 20 startups at the seed and acceleration phrases. In addition to Jumpido, they’ve also invested in education startups like Ucha.se and Habbits. We have covered them a number of times in the past, most recently when they announced the call for the next class for their accelerator. It’s cutting it pretty close now, but the deadline for their program is June 2nd and teams interested can still send in an application. Teams selected receive 30,000 euro in funding and are eligible for up to 200,000 more after completing the program. They tell us that those who miss out can simply apply during the next application period, which will come before the end of this year.
