Polish startup Colibri has obtained 300,000 zloty (72,000 euro) in funding from Krakow-based VC fund Innovation Nest, we’ve learned. The lead investors from Innovation Nest are Piotr Wilam and Marek Kapturkiewicz, but they’re joined by Wiktor Schmidt and Kuba Filipowski, who co-founded Netguru and who have invested 12,000 euro in Colibri. In investing in Colibri, Innovation Nest have acquired a 12.3% stake and the guys from Netguru have taken a 2% share.
Colibri was founded in January 2012 by Karol Pokojowczyk. Initially designed as a side project to help him at his older company 2.0 Web Solutions, he realized that it was an idea worth spinning of on his own. The tool offered is designed to help businesses drive sales by increasing traffic to their websites by providing information about the keywords connected with their brand. Their “growth-hacking SEO tool” provides data on search volume, keyword information, and competing businesses. It tells businesses which keywords connected with their product are most successful in driving traffic from search engines to the business’ site and offers suggestions for related words. Plans start at $15 (11.50 euro) per month.
According to the company, this new funding will be directed towards product development and the establishment of offices in Silicon Valley. In speaking with Pokojowczyk, he told me that they have 4 primary goals at the moment: 1) obtaining further feedback from U.S.-based customers, 2) introduce a new version of the product in September, 3) shoot for 30% month-over-month growth from September, and 4) obtain new investment from the U.S. by March 2014.
