Czech startup Tripomatic has an added an Android app to their mobile offerings. Last year, they released an iOS app which they claim has been downloaded more than 100,000 times. Now the teams at Triptomatic are attempting to broaden their base by moving on to the increasingly-popular Android platform. The company, which was established in 2011 by co-founders Lukas Nevosad and wife Barbora, offers users the ability to organize trips by finding accomodations and car-rentals, discovering local attractions, and by syncing between desktop and mobile platforms. According to the company, travellers have their choice of more than 30,000 attractions from more than 300 worldwide destinations. On their website, visitors can find pre-planned trips to major cities from around the globe or can simply create custom journeys.
According to a recent interview with the site Travopia, Tripomatic has thus far been self-funded with funding for the company coming from other projects. In terms of monetization, the company offers offline data packages and local travel guides as in-app purchases.
In the market for trip-planning apps, there’s no shortage of competition. Whether searching for accomodations with Airbnb, flights with Kayak or Expedia, or managing various trips with TripIt, there’s no shortage of sites and companies dedicated to assisting travellers with their various needs. The advantage that Triptomatic seems to offer is in allowing travellers to discover local attractions. There are certainly services which specialize in this, like Field Trip from Google, but Triptomatic integrates this aspect into its main travel-planning service.
