Slovak WorkInField, a startup which offers apps for maintaining travel logs, announces that they’ve released an app for Windows Phone. This app joins their already-released Android version.
The service provided by WorkInField allows users to automatically record the distances that they travel and to upload these records to share or manage in a report. This service is designed for anyone interested in maintaining a log of their travels, but is probably of particular interest to businesses wishing to manage the travel expenses of their employees. The service is free and allows individuals, businesses, or other organizations to keep records of distance travel and to share it through social media or by email.
I spoke with CEO and co-founder Richard Voda about the company and he told me that, although the service only launched in Q4 of 2012, they anticipate reaching 10,000 installations by the end of March on Android devices and Windows Phone 7 and 8. I’m told that releasing an iOS app, which they’ve already begun coding, is one of their top priorities for Q2 this year.
The initial seed investment of 270,000 euro came from himself, co-founder Michal Dobrodenka, and a group of Angel investors from Sygic, who are behind the highest-downloaded GPS navigation app for Android. Having established themselves, Voda now says that they hope to attract a Series A investor in Q2 so that they can further develop the product, expand their customer base, and speed product localization for non-English markets. The startup’s primary focus are the American and western European markets.
Voda also noted that his company became a Microsoft BizSpark Plus member and that they took part in a 3-month programe at Plug and Play in Silicon Valley in order to be able to better adapt their service to the U.S. market.
