DealAngel is a Russian startup that helps spot a real deal offered by hotels, announced that it’s opening up its API for use by other sites. Available as a private beta now, the API is expected to be opened up to public in April. The site Gogobot.com has already integrated DealAngel’s API into its service and will be introducing a calendar on its site which will highlight DealAngel’s service.
Founded in May 2012 by Roman Peskin, Bob Rogers, and Oleg Zaidiner, the company helps customers determine whether or not they’re getting a good deal when they go to book a hotel. Using historical pricing data, DealAngel’s service predicts future prices to offer consumers a nice frame of reference for comparing with actual prices. Going even further, DealAngel then finds rates that are lower than the expected fair price so that consumers can select the best possible option. DealAngel says that its algorithms are self-learning and will therefore be able to produce more accurate results in time.
According to the Andrey Kazakov, the partner at Foresight Ventures, DealAngel’s main competitors are the large, established travel sites. In other words, they’re going head to head with Hotels.com, Kayak.com, Expedia, and Orbitz, among others.
