Yesterday startup conference TechChill Baltics took place in Riga, Latvia and I caught up with the new kids on the block to learn about their businesses.
You may read more details about the teams in my TechCrunch post, but in summary here they are.
BliuBliu is a Lithuanian startup that aims to make it easier to learn minor languages, a challenge that typical language course developers avoid for the economic reasons. The company is working on a tool that assesses student’s familiarity with the language, and proceeds with offering suitable texts and multimedia materials found online that would be quite easy to understand.
Other teams that participated in the pitching competition came from Latvia. They include Spherico – a mobile app for many participants to contribute to a story, a speed-reading practice tool Fastr for iPad, Frendapp a mobile app recommendation service based on the actual app usage, and Froont, an online tool that allows non-technical designers prototype responsive websites that work on different displays, including smart phones.
