Mebelrama, a Russian online furniture-retailer, announced that it has raised $10 million (~7,7 million euros) from the German-based incubator Rocket Internet. The company was founded in 2011 by the duo of Manuela Stoll and Nino Ulsamer and received a prior $4-6 million (3-4,5 million euros) from Rocket Internet just last year. For the moment, Mebelrama focuses primarily on the former Soviet Union, but Stoll told Kommersant that $500 million (~387 million euros) in annual revenue by 2015 is a realistic possibility.
Rocket Internet portfolio includes Lamoda, a Russian online fashion retailer recently backed by JP Morgan, and WestWing, which offers high-end home-decor items. Given that the managing directors of this company, Stoll and Ulsamer, were co-founders of both Mebelrama and Westwing, this investment is perhaps less of a surprise.
