Forbes of Russia has announced semi-finalists for its annual startup competition. The 11 winners, which were selected out of more than 200 entrants, managed to survive the two-week judgement period and will now be offered blog-space on its website.
the winners at this stage are: youdo.com (Russian version of TaskRabbit), my-apps.com (mobile app creating service for various platforms), docdoc.ru (a search tool for local physicians), the Russian Football League (network for all-Russia amateur football league), BioFoodLab (healthy food site and a manufacturer of healthy snack bars), Sunrise (Montessori for kindergartens), Indigo Kids (interactive learning environment for children), Tactile Vision (devices for visually impaired people), Digital Signature (social network for writers), Pingbox (customer feedback tools), and Monokrystal (technology for growing crystals).
There, they will spend roughly the next seven months bi-monthly sharing with the site’s readers the difficulties, issues, and successes that they encounter in the effort to develop and expand their respective businesses. On November 15th, each semi-finalist will receive a mentor who will guide them on their entrepreneurship journey. The project will culminate in on June 1st with the selection of three ultimate winners of the competition.
In order to be eligible for the competition, Forbes stated that entrants were required to be young companies (established no earlier than 1 September, 2011) and were required to have a working prototype of their product or to have a functioning website and actual customers.
