Just last month the travel booking startup OneTwoTrip has announced raising $9 million for a minority stake from the fund called Phenomen Ventures. Today I learned that one more investor, Atomico (Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis of Skype) has backed the air ticket booking startup with additional $16 million of funding according to Quintura blog.
The website offers to search for flights, and is available in English, German and a number of other languages in addition to Russian which makes me think it will be a global play, another good reason to try it out, as I am based in Germany.
The founder of the company Peter Kutis has previously built an allegedly a pre-IPO company AnywayAnyday which is a direct competitor. Folks at AnywayAnyday are probably thinking “here is how a strategy of letting founder walk away from the business can backfire”. Or not?
