I am the archive person in the family. I am big on printing photo books and editing family videos (I have even mastered Pinnacle Studio). So I am more or less set in my ways. But when I talked to Marko Petković, the founder and CEO of Slovenian Slidemotion at London Web Summit, he was certain that there is an unmet need on how one shares photos in a video format.
Sure enough, there are plenty of videos on YouTube which are put together into a slide show with a music track. This is what Slidemotion Facebook Application can do with a photo album in three clicks. See the video above to understand how it works.
I am sure there are limitless variations on how one can share their photos. I am not even going to start with a competitive analysis (Timeline MovieMaker for example) . But I think the ease of use is a plus for Slidemotion Facebook app. Besides, music is a powerful tool to evoke emotions, and I have just been touched by a family video made by a complete stranger on Slidemotion website.
And it is true, it only takes 3 clicks. If you want, you can add titles, and more photos once the first version of the video is completed. But if you want to have more than 15 shots, you will have to go premium. As for the music license, Slidemotion bought 150 music tracks with wordlwide unlimited usage, unlimited distribution, resell and modification license which they pass on to the users.
Here is a video made from my photo album of Credo Week in CEE 2011. One limitation I found is that the title of each photo is too short to give an adequate description. And the fact that embedding the video into this blog post does not allow for a proportionate reduction of the frame width.
In all honesty, I started this post as a sceptic, and finished it off as a converted user. Try it out.
