UBIKOD is four years old French company which has just raised $1.5 million from Russian venture fund Runa Capital. UBIKOD is solving web and app management problem. With its cloud platform Capptain it allows collecting and monitoring real time apps performance and usage, as well as engaging the audience in two-way communication.
One of its competitive advantages is said to be data visualization and flexible report customization.
Interestingly At HackFwd Build0.9 conference in Berlin this month I have met Stefan Bielau, mobile expert who said that a big challenge in the mobile space is that publishing mobile apps in different app stores is still pretty much a manual task.
Whilst it does not look like Capptain solves this exact problem, given that its data collection and analytics is cross-platform, (iOS, Android, Html5, Web OS, Samsung Smart TV, Blackberry/RIM and WP7), it would be interesting to see if it will head in that direction.
There are other mobile analytics tools out there such as Localytics (iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and HTML5 apps) and Flurry (iOS only for now), to mention a few. There are also app development platforms such as Appscelerator, Romanian Appscend of Croatian ShoutEm which offer apps monitoring as an extension of its core offering.
All these companies are after a piece of mobile application market, which will grow to $38 billion by 2015, according to Runa Capital’s managing partner Dmitry Chikhachev who joins UBIKOD board.
