The Startup Sauna crew is on the go again, warming up startups in Eastern European region. So far the team visited Kaunas in Lithuania, Warsaw in Poland and St. Petersburg in Russia. Upcoming trips include Moscow, Krasnodar and Tallinn as far as our region is concerned.
Here is a recap of the teams that Startup Sauna has picked out for its 6-week intensive coaching program.
In Poland it was a winner of TechCrunch Baltic pitching contest Latvian Infogr.am . The runners up included Polish Edukoala (mobile app which transforms lock screen into a new word learning tool) and Sugentum (ecommerce startup with elements of sharing on social networks, via mobile and even TV).
In Kaunas the winners were Lithuanian TropicMind (an educational virtual world for kids aged 6 to12), AdDuplex (a cross-promotion network for Windows Phone apps) and Lithuanian / UK startup Goodbuzz (a social marketing platform to fuel viral impact by crowdsourcing ad budgets).
In St Petersburg the teams which won the contests were Peacock (Good Roads) is a mobile app which allows to assess road quality (relevant for Russian roads, many of them are in poor condition), YourBand (a tool to bring together musicians and their audience), Excursia from SG Travel Technology offers multi-lingual audio guides and reminds me of PocketGuide.
Just to remind our readers, Startup Sauna is an open source accelerator from Finland, which does not take equity and covers startups’s cost of participation. It also arranges trips to Silicon Valley for those teams who are ready to meet investors.
