Today Yandex, Russia’s leading search engine has announced that the company joined the top three search engines Google, Yahoo! and Bing to develop standard html tags to improve search results and user experience. Schema.org, launched in June 2011, develops HTML vocabulary, which enables webmasters tag the web page content according to its purpose, whether it is an event, a person or an organization.
Appropriately tagged websites will now appear in Yandex search engine, as well as in its video, image and directory platforms.
Last week Yandex has been ranked by comScore as number 5 search engine platform in the world, rising up from the 7th place compared to the last year. Its revenue for the last 9 months of 2011 has increased by 62 per cent to $423 million. Its profit margin reached 28 per cent for the same period. Its current market value is $3.66 billion.
